Drawing With Wool

Pattern is really becoming a prominent feature in my studio practice and I’m having a brilliant time experimenting with different ways of using it within drawing.  I have been spending a lot of time drawing very linear, geometric shapes, so decided it was about time I gave some more organic patterns a go!  Traditions related to my home of Shetland are important within my work and I try to embrace them in new ways as much as possible.  I spent time knitting with shetland wool before viewing the rhythmical pattern through a projector allowing me to draw from the projection, altering it into a visually abstract form.
